With the Nashville area expected to grow by more than 1 million people over the next 25 years, the Metro Nashville Planning Department asked MP&F to lead community outreach for NashvilleNext, the update to the General Plan that will guide how Nashville grows through 2040. Seeking specialists among targeted demographics, MP&F contracted with TPRA member Hispanic Marketing Group for Latino outreach, The MEPR Agency for African-American and Gen Y outreach, and the Ferrell-McDaniel Group for senior outreach.
NashvilleNext aims to educate residents about the long-range issues facing Nashville and its communities by engaging Nashvillians from all walks of life, motivating them to take action, and empowering them to create a plan that reflects their ideals and vision. To accomplish these objectives, MP&F and partnering firms have planned outreach events all over the city, created community engagement through maintaining NashvilleNext’s social media channels, and developed and distributed surveys throughout the community for input.
Through these activities, NashvilleNext has resulted in more than 15,200 inputs from more than 10,000 Nashvillians so far. Participants accurately reflect the demographics outlined by the 2010 Census, making NashvilleNext one of the most participatory and diverse planning processes in the nation.
